Laborers Unload Coal From A Cargo Ship In Dhaka
DHAKA, BANGLADESH - OCTOBER 11: Laborers, carrying baskets on their heads, unload coal from a cargo ship in Gabtoli on October 11, 2023 in Dhaka, Bangladesh. About 3.0 per cent of the country’s power currently comes from coal. In the early morning, workers start unloading coal till sunset, earning USD $5 to $7 per day. There are no special shoes on their feet and no gloves in their hands to unload coal from cargo ships. Moreover, long working hours under the scorching sun, massive accumulation of dust and carrying excessive loads pose serious health hazards for the workers. (Footage by Palash Khan/Getty Images)
