24th MEU AH-1W Super Cobra Flight Operations
UNITED STATES - SEPTEMBER 9: In this handout footage provided by U.S. Department of Defense, An AH-1W Super Cobra with Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 261 (Reinforced), conducts flight operations aboard the USS Iwo Jima, Sept. 4, 2012. The Cobras are part of the "skid" detachment for VMM-261 (Rein), originally assigned to Marine Light Attack Helicopter Squadron 269 based out of Marine Corps Air Station New River, N.C. The 24th MEU is currently deployed with the Iwo Jima Amphibious Ready Group as a theater reserve force for U.S. Central Command and is providing support for maritime security operations and theater security cooperation efforts in the U.S. Navy 5th Fleet area of operations.
