Sanford Bishop exchange with Treasury Secretary Mnuchin on fiscal 2018 budget over tax policy, Cuba

Georgia Congressman Sanford Bishop questions Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin at a hearing of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Financial Services and General Government about the tax gap, the difference between taxes paid and owed, addressing the compliance problem in its budget submission that could make the issue worse, vacancies among confirmed positions in the department, and his disappointment that President Donald Trump intends to turn back the clock with regard to relations with Cuba, how free and fair trade can be expanded with a neighbor engaged in very serious commerce with China, Canada and Mexico. Mnuchin says the department will make sure that wages are taxed as wages and not otherwise, and that FBI background checks have held up announcements on new nominees and Cuba policy is under review.
