Vannes is a fortified city located at the bottom of the Golfe du Morbihan, famous for its old town full of half-timbered houses and its cultural heritage. Picture is a townscape of Vannes showing the old fortified walls and their several towers, the Tour du Connetable (Constable's tower) and the Saint Peter cathedral, all classified as historic monuments. The Jardin des Remparts (Ramparts Garden), a public park laid out in 1950 in the French Garden style at the foot of the old walls, is visible in front of them.
