Bottle of habushu - stock photo
Kyushu, Japan – June 11, 2008: A closeup of a bottle of Habushu, or Okinawan Snake Wine. Habushu derives its name from the habu snake, a member of the pit viper family. The snakes are venomous. The bottle is filled with awamori, a distilled liquor made from long grain rice, and the snake, after being soaked in ethanol for a month, is added to the bottle.
