AIR Crash/scene
The RAF, Police and Air Safety experts examine the wreckage of a RAF Hawk training jet, from 100 Squadron, which struck a railway bridge and exploded on the outskirts of the Cumbrian village of Shap, killing 2 crewmen. * Debris from the explosion struck this van as it approached the bridge, injuring the 38-year-old driver who was taken to hospital suffering from cuts and minor burns. The RAF named the dead airmen as Squadron Leader Mike Andrews and Flight Lieutenant Steve Todd, who were both stationed at RAF Leeming in North Yorks.
