AUSTRALIA OUTBACK HIGHWAY
BONYA AUSTRALIA - AUGUST 16 Members of the Madrill family make a phone call on the only available phone on August 16, 2022 in Bonya, Australia. There is no mobile phone signal in Bonya and no landlines available to the majority of the community. Many indigenous communities along the Outback Way are closed to outsiders or require a permit for access. Bonyas remoteness makes it a challenge for residents to receive medical care, both routine and emergency. The nearest full time medical clinic is a 2 hour drive. During the austral summer, when the rains come, locals said the highway gets washed out and becomes inaccessible for weeks at a time.
