RAIL Clapham filer 2
BLACK AND WHITE ONLY AVAILABLE. Library file dated 12.12.88. The scene near Clapham Junction station in 1988, following the crash in which 35 people died. About 50 mourners today (Saturday) commemorated the 10th anniversary of the crash by gathering at the scene at precisely the time of the tragedy. At 8.13 am on Monday December 12, 1988, a London-bound commuter train ploughed into the back of a stationary train near Clapham Junction, south west London. Today, relatives of the victims and members of the emergency services stood with their heads bowed for a minute's silence beside a memorial to those who died. PA photos. See PA story RAIL Clapham.
