A car burns after being hit by a US tank

BAGHDAD, IRAQ: A car burns after being hit by a US tank shell in Baghdad's predominantly Shiite Muslim Sadr City neighborhood 08 August 2004 after a US military OH-58 Delta helicopter made an emergency landing 08 August 2004 on the edge of the slum where clashes have raged over the past three days between US troops and the Mehdi Army, a militia loyal to radical Shiite cleric Moqtada Sadr. US Major General Peter Chiarelli told reporters that both pilots were safe, adding that the helicopter was not attacked and that it was a "maintenance" issue. At least 22 people were killed and 166 injured in Baghdad over the past 24 hours, which included fighting in Sadr City, according to the Iraqi health ministry.
