Brazilian Flordelis dos Santos poses wit
Brazilian Flordelis dos Santos poses with one of her 50 sons --four of them her own and another 46 adopted-- at their home in Niteroi, on the other side of the Bay of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, October 21, 2009. Considered at one particular moment by the Justice as a child abductor because she adopted the children without following the proper legal procedures, Flordelis, who grew up in Jacarezinho, one of the most violent slums in Rio, went to the press for help and thereafter got the support of NGO "Instituto Crianca", which presently also pays her location at a condominium. Turned since from outlaw into heroin, a film depicting her history is showing in Brazil and soon will be presented at the U.N. headquarters in New York.
