US Army Sgt. Terry Robinson of the 4th Brigade, 34 Armoured division, hangs his laundry 20 January 1991 somewhere in Saudi desert on his M1-A1 Abrams tank. 63-tonnes Abrams could carry four crewmen and has a maximum speed of around 42 miles (67 kilometres). Iraq's invasion of Kuwait 02 August 1990, ostensibly over violations of the Iraqi border, led to the Gulf War which began 16 January 1991. A U.S.-led multinational force expelled Iraq from Kuwait during the "Desert Storm" offensive and a cease-fire was signed 28 February 1991.
