Two students from Nottingham University, walking home from a night out, Barnaby Webber and Grace O'Malley-Kumar, and a school caretaker sat in his van, Ian Coates. The perpetrator, Valdo Calocane, then stole the van and ran three people over, before being stopped by police. Valdo Calocane, a paranoid schizophrenic, will be detained indefinitely in a high security hospital, after pleading guilty to three counts of manslaughter on the grounds of diminished responsibility. The families of three people stabbed to death in Nottingham last summer have expressed their fury at the way police and prosecutors have handled the case, saying 'true justice has not been served', as he wasn't charged with murder and the police failed to arrest him for previous offences.
