Mulu Pinnacles, Mulu National Park, Sarawak, Malaysian Borneo - stock photo

The Mulu Pinnacles are located in the remote Mulu National Park in Miri ,Sarawak on Borneo Island. The 2.4 km hike to the Pinnacles viewpoint is a challenging 3 day - 2 nights hike that combines hiking, climbing and rock climbing. The last 400 meters of the hike involves climbing up 17 precariously placed metal ladders , balance across metal bridges between boulders and scurrying up more sharp rocks. The Pinnacles are a series of razor sharp limestone spikes that grows out of the ground into the sky ,reaching midway up the slopes of Mount Api ( Gunung Api as it is known locally). The view of the Pinnacles is spectacular and makes the hike worth doing despite the cuts and bruises suffered along the way.
