Edie Bouvier Beale holding family jewelry to be auctioned

Edie Bouvier Beale, daughter of the late Edith Bouvier Beale, aunt of Jackie Onassis, displays some of the six pieces of jewelry that will be auctioned at the William Doyle Gallery. The value of the jewels is estimated at $5,000 to $8,000. Mrs. Beale and her daughter, Edie, lived as recluses in a rundown mansion in East Hampton, New York, until Mrs. Beale's death earlier this year. Miss Beale claims to be impoverished although the property is estimated to be worth $500,000 and has been put up for sale.
