The Inuvik to Tuktoyaktuk highway opened on November 15, 2017. The road was a goal for over 50 years and links the town of Inuvik (3484 people) and the hamlet of Tuktoyaktuk (930 people). It cost 300 million Canadian dollars (US$235 million), as it is built on permafrost.
